Here are tips on applying a tan product.
- Patch test new product one day before using it. Also do hair removal
- Just before applying the tan you need to exfoliate your skin (do not forget your face) and remove make-up, perfume and deodorant.
- Apply moisturiser to dry spots; pay special attention to elbows, knees, heels and feet.
- Always wear gloves when working with tan.
- Begin with one leg; apply using small circular movements. You don’t need a lot of the product.
- Use feathery movements when working with the heel and over your feet.
- Using the same movements, apply the tan on your hands but be careful not get tan on the palms.
- When tanning your face don’t skip the back of your neck, eyelids and earlobes.
- Dress in loose, dark clothing and leave to develop overnight.
- The next day rinse off excess tan until the water runs clear. Pat yourself dry.
- A tan can last 7 to 10 days. During this time, moisturise every day as well as wash and dry yourself gently. You also need to avoid swimming.
- Next time you want to tan again you must remove all of the previous product.
