Lack of Sleep and Skin Beauty
You are aware of the health benefits of getting a good night’s sleep. But did you know about the importance of sleep for keeping your skin in the best condition possible.
When you sleep your, body repairs the cells, including skin cells.
Many studies have found that sleep deprivation reduces the levels of growth hormone which are required for the repair process.
The less growth hormone that you have the less chance your body has to repair the damage that has happened to the skin throughout the day.
The rate of new skin cells that are created by the body doubles during periods of sleep. Consequently, the more sleep you get the faster your skin cells will be produced and the younger you will look.
When there is no cell regeneration or when this process is reduced below certain levels the skin becomes more wrinkled and loses its tone.
However, keep in mind the effects that too many hours in bed might have on your skin.
Nearly all people tend to sleep on their side or face down. As a result, their face gets crease marks from the extended time that the face is pushed against the pillow.
This is not a problem when you are young. But, as you age there is less elastin in your skin. So the crease marks take longer to disappear and if you continue to sleep in the same position every night these marks can remain permanent.
To fight this problem, use softer pillows and satin pillow slips or sleep on your back.
