Facial Injectable Filler That Uses Your Own Blood

Did you hear about a facial injectable filler called “vampire facelift”? It is a new cosmetic procedure that is generating lots of buzz.

An injectable filler is called Selphyl. It uses components of the patient’s own blood to rejuvenate aging skin. Ultimately it’s similar to other facial fillers that smooth out wrinkles.

Selphyl costs about the same as other synthetic injectabls, but with two big advantages – it lasts longer (one year – possibly up to 4 years) and has ‘natural’ feel.

How it works:

Using a Selphyl kit, a small volume of blood is extracted and spun for 6 minutes in a centrifuge. The platelets, the plasma and red and white blood cells are sperated.

The platelets and fibrin, containing growth factors that promote collagen production, are re-injected into facial lines. Other than mild bruising or puffiness, there are hardly any side effects.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women are not candidates as well as those on blood-thinning medication.

Vampire facelift will not only suck your blood but your money too. It costs $800 to $1,200 per session! More here.
