Chocolate, Dairy Products and Sugar Cause Acne

A small preliminary study found out that the consumption of pure chocolate, made of 100% cocoa, does exacerbate acne. Researchers at the University of Miami studied ten healthy male subjects between 18 and 35 years of age with a history of facial acne vulgaris.

These men then ate about 8 ounces of pure chocolate and then were chocolate-free for seven days. At the start of the study, the men had about three pimples, but by the end of the week they had about 18. But the man who ate the most chocolate had 70 pimples by the seventh day.

Also, two large studies have found that cow milk can increase both the number of people who get acne and its severity. Other trials found that people who had higher sugar intake and a high glycemic load diet (more bread, rice, cereal, pasta, sugar, and flour products) had drastically more acne.
