Combination skin has areas of dryness and oiliness. The oiliness is located on the forehead, nose and chin. On the other hand, the cheeks, mouth and areas around the eyes are dry.
Because of this, it is frustrating to take care of combination skin. So how to care for your skin?
The good news is that the combination skin is much less susceptible to climate changes than other skin types. It can successfully adjust when humidity rises (making skin oilier) and when temperatures drop (causing dry skin).
Follow these general guidelines:
You should not use products that are excessively abrasive or irritating. They will cause more dryness in the dry areas and redness in oily areas.
Use a gentle water-soluble cleanser. It can be a gel-based or mildly foaming cleanser.
You can use the same toner all over if it doesn’t make the oily areas of your face feel greasy.
Use an oil-free moisturizer because even oily skin needs moisturizing. If there are dry spots on your cheeks, supplement with a richer moisturizer.
Wear sunscreen every day. Get a broad-spectrum formula, which will protect from both UVA and UVB rays.
