10 Winter Skin Care Tips - Cold Weather Skin Care

Once winter weather arrives, dry skin will be on your skin care agenda. Here are 10 tips that will help you maintain beautiful skin during cold weather months.

1. Your face is the most exposed area of your body. Start using an oil-based moisturizer. Apply it 30 minutes before going outside.

2. Your hands are the second most exposed body part. Wear gloves to protect them during the cold winter weather. When inside, apply moisturizer.

3. Do not forget your lips; they often become chapped during winter months. The best way to protect them is to apply a lip product with SPF 30.

4. Use a cream to moisturize instead of a lotion. Lotions only dry the skin out more. If you have sensitive skin, select a moisturizer without fragrance or lanolin.

5. Winter showers shouldn’t be longer than 15 minutes; any longer can damage your skin.

6. Exfoliate your skin two times a week to remove dead skin cells from the body.

7. Do not use face scrubs because they can dry your skin. Replace those with gentle cleansers.

8. Keep skin supple with hydration and humidification - drink 6 to 8 glasses of plain water throughout the day and use a humidifier while sleeping to avoid moisture loss from the skin.

9. Do not forget to use sunscreen especially if you ski or live at higher altitudes because there’s more ultraviolet ray exposure at those heights.

10. Use chamomile tea to help rejuvenate the skin. But do not drink it; rinse your face for a soft, healthy glow. Studies found that chamomile is an ideal ingredient for dry skin.

We hope these tips will help you keep your skin in good condition during the winter.
