How to Deal with Nail Polish Chipping
Many women have problems with their nail polish chipping. There are a number of reasons that polish chips.
Here are several tips to help you take care of fingernail polish chipping:
- Clean the nail of any oils, creams and lotions before applying polish. Pay special attention to the tip and cuticle area.
- It is crucial to apply a base coat, two coats of the color polish and then a good topcoat.
- Always use fresh polish and not polish that is too old because this type of polish breaks down easily.
- Avoid water 24 hours after having your nails done. The first 4-6 hours are the most important.
- Maintenance is another crucial step in preventing chipped polish. Keep applying polish down the nail and around the tip of the nail starting the day after your manicure.
- Natural oils on your nails are one of the reasons they chip. Even if your nails are polish-free, use polish remover to get rid of oils on the surface of nails.
- Use a product by OPI called Chip Skip. You apply it on clean nails, just before you put your base coat on. It helps your polish stay on longer without getting chipped.
