French Manicure Tips

The attractiveness of the French manicure is unquestionable. One of the reasons is the versatility that is offered by a French manicure. You can have groomed and polished hands without having to worry about choosing a color.

Selecting a color is one of the least favorite things about getting a manicure, especially at a nail salon. People usually end up choosing a color that they don’t like once it’s on their nails.

Then you either must live with the disastrous color or ask the manicurist to change the color.

That’s the beauty of French manicures. There really aren’t that many decisions you need to make.

Of course you may have to pick between white and off white for your tips, or possibly have to select between blush and beige for the base color; compared to having to pick between pink palm or wild orchid, that decision is for amateurs.

Another great thing about the French manicure is that it typically lasts longer than a traditional manicure with color. In addition, you don’t have to think too much about the color of your nail polish when choosing your outfits. Nothing is worse than having someone point out that your hot pink polish clashes with coral dress.

However, it is more difficult to give yourself a French manicure than it is to just paint your fingernails one solid color.

Here is a quick fix as an alternative. If you are in a hurry, but still want your nails to look great, you just dig your fingernails into a bar of dove or ivory soap. Then, wash your hands methodically. The soap will really help to whiten the tips of your nails. Lastly, you need to quickly apply a clear coat of polish. The affects are not quite the same as taking the time to do an actual French manicure, but it will work.

Now if you have more time on your hands, give yourself an at home French manicure. It’s not as good as getting one in a salon, but still a treat nonetheless. First, soak your hands and scrub them well with an exfoliating scrub. Next, trim and shape the nails. Then apply a base coat of polish to your nails.

When trying to paint the tip of your nails, you can try a few different things. You can use those tape strips that you can buy in a French manicure kit. But they don’t seem to work for many women. When you peel the tape off, half the time the polish comes off with it. The other half of the time you will find out that you have managed to paint underneath the tape.

The thing that works best is to use a super thin brush, like an eyeliner brush. Next, apply a very light thin strip to the tips of your nail. After allowing the tips to dry, apply the pink or beige top coat. Finally, apply a clear chip proof top coat to your new French manicure.
