First you need to shake the bottle well. This is particularly important step when using oil based foundations because they have a tendency to separate.
Next, add a few drops of moisturizer to your palm and mix it well with the foundation that you also apply to your palm.
Use your fingers or a small sponge to dot sufficient foundation about your cheeks, chin, forehead and nose. Now you can start to gently smooth it over your face in an upward and outward motion.
Don’t miss any areas and in particular the sides of your nose. Pay special attention to where your nose and cheeks meet because it is easy in this area to get a build up of foundation that can look very ugly.
Other areas that need special attention are around the jaw line and under your eyebrows.
At the end, gently blot your face with a tissue to make sure that there is no excess oil left on your skin.
A good application of foundation must look very natural and not as though it has being plastered on.
In addition to knowing how to apply makeup foundation, you must use a foundation that is appropriate for your skin type and coloring.
