Necessary Care After Laser Hair Removal Treatment
Laser hair removal treatment is a simple process bit it does require proper care of the skin in the area that was treated. Normally there is little recovery time needed after laser hair removal procedure.
Although you can return to normal activities immediately after the treatment, it is crucial that you take certain steps in order to prevent any complications and to reduce any discomfort that may happen.
After laser hair removal treatment, the skin can be slightly swollen and red in the treated area. It feels like mild sunburn, with slight puffiness and irritation.
Placing a cooling preparation such as a cold compress, cold pack, or aloe vera, on the affected skin will ease the temporary mild burning sensation.
It is important to apply a total sun block to the treated area if it is going to be exposed to sunlight. Use a sun block with an SFP of 30 or higher. Sunlight should be avoided for 21 days following laser hair removal in order to prevent hyperpigmentation.
Use moisturizing creams to prevent tissue crusting or scabbing. It generally is not necessary to use antibacterial cream.
If the skin is not broken, you can apply makeup to the areas of the skin that have undergone laser hair removal treatment. Apply new makeup with a new clean sponge.
Avoid hot baths for a couple of days; take warm, quick showers. Use a gentle cleanser and avoid harsh soaps.
The area of treatment should not be shaved for 4 or 5 days. Do not tweeze, wax, pluck, and bleach in between laser hair removal treatments.
