Strong Healthy Hair During Summer Months
Summer can leave your hair in poor shape. You need to protect your hair from the beach, chlorine, and those damaging UVA and UVB rays.
The swimming pools contain hair depleting chemicals such as chlorine, copper (causes green hair) and oxidizing agent bromide.
When you are at the beach, salty sea air and water rob hair of natural moisture leaving it dry, coarse and damaged.
With a few adjustments to a hair care routine, summer hair damage can be minimized. Here are a few recommendations:
- Use hair products that provide sun protection from UVA and UVB rays.
- Use a quality, nondrying shampoo (often called a clarifying shampoo) at least once per week and more often if you are an avid swimmers.
- A moisturizing treatment or mask is crucial in keeping hair strong and healthy. Use a protein and nutrient rich product. Leave it on for at least 15 minutes
- Choose products containing effective antioxidants. They work to neutralize free radicals before damage can be done to hair
