Skin Moisturizers Can Cause Cancer!


Skin moisturizers used by millions of people could cause a variety of skin cancers, according to a new study.

Most moisturizers have never been tested for their cancer-causing effect on the skin. Tests on mice have found that they can increase the carcinogenic effects of sunlight.

After testing four moisturizers, American scientists at Rutgers University in New Jersey discovered that all of them increased the production of cancers by an average of 69%.

The good news is that the cancers generated were typically non-fatal varieties and could be easily removed.

Melanoma, the less common form of skin cancer which can cause death, was not one of the tumors generated.

The study was published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.
