Review of Home Microdermabrasion Kits
You can improve your skin at home using over-the-counter microdermabrasion kits.
These home kits cost between $10 and $200 which is significantly less expensive than the $100 to $200 you need to pay for a single, in-office micro dermabrasion session.
But how good these home kits are?
Professional microdermabrasion takes about half an hour and typically requires 4 to 12 sessions.
Home kits are an inexpensive and convenient alternative to a professional session. However, they don’t penetrate as deeply into the skin surface as professional microdermabrasion.
The only problem with these kits is that some people overuse them, scrubbing too much or using them too often. Home micro dermabrasion kits can also aggravate some skin conditions (acne, eczema or rosacea).
Medically speaking, there isn’t a lot of difference between the expensive kits and the cheaper ones.
Here is the review of three home microdermabrasion kits - Nova Skin Care System, Neutrogena Advanced Solutions and Dove Skin Vitalizer:
- Nova Skin Care System is the most complicated of the three to work with. However, it polishes the skin more effectively than the Neutrogena and Dove systems. Cost: $199.80.
- Neutrogena Advanced Solutions is easy to use. It leaves a smooth feel but the crystals are gritty and hard to wash off. Cost: $39.
- Dove Skin Vitalizer is simple to use and lightweight. But the skin is less polished than the exfoliation done by the Neutrogena and Nova systems. Cost: $11.99.
