Alguronic acid is a new anti-aging star ingredient! Scientists discovered it while researching microalgae.
Alguronic acid is a compound that protects microalgae cells, so they can live anywhere, even in in the harshest places. It is believed that it can also protect human middle-aged faces from environmental effects.
In other words, some experts think that alguronic acid contains anti-aging properties superior to other beauty creams on the market. When researched for potential anti-aging benefits, the acid showed impressive regenerative and protective properties – it increased elastin production by 32% and cellular regeneration by 55%.
The company Solazyme has launched a line of skin care products sold under the brand name Algenist:
- Concentrated Reconstructing Serum to restore skin density and elasticity, minimize the appearance of wrinkles and boost skin radiance.
- Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer nourishes skin, rebuilds firmness and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The products are available in Sephora stores. Thy retail for between $65 to $95.
